Valentines Day

It is safe to say Valentines Day was very enjoyable. We celebrated the day with Joshua but Michael and I are celebrating it this coming Saturday instead because of lack of funds. Joshua woke up that morning with a Valentine gift on his little table. That morning I thought I should make him a heart felt envelope to put his little cards and candies in. He loves cards and little bags and pockets so this was perfect. We had the card mailed to Loveland Colorado so we could get the special little stamp on the card. Below is a picture of Michael's card. We also got him a little Knight and Dragon toy which he loves. Today he got the same toy from a wonderful friend for his birthday and think it is the best thing ever to have two of them.

For breakfast I made heart french toast, which Joshua said we should eat 'every morning', later he made a necklace with crochet hearts I made for him.

Stroller Cover

I came across this Secure2me cover one day and thought it looked easy enough for me to make. I took a blanket I had sewn a while back with multiple pieces of Denim on it for the outside and a soft fleece blanket for the inside. I already had the mitten clips on hand so it was a super quick and free project. I plan on making one more for the car seat so I can return the oh so nice car seat cover back to its owner.

I also bought a plastic stroller cover to go over the entire stroller so we can go on walks when it isn't that warm out or it's raining.

If you click on the picture you can see where it clips to the stroller.

Name tags for the table settings

Last week I got an idea from Stacy J. to make these glass balls. I wasn't able to find the same glass balls as she was able to but I found something that worked great. One thing I changed was instead of painting the outside of the balls I had Joshua pick out the paint colors, added water to the paints, and poured the paint inside the ball and shook it around. Then I added a lot of glitter to the ball and had him shake that around. Then I made little name tags from Card stock and wrote the names of our family members on them. Since these are gifts from Joshua I thought it would be neat to have the name cards read what he calls us, Mommy, Daddy, Auntie and so on. Here are the final results. I'll post more on our Christmas celebration later.

Stroller Child Cover

So I am having a really hard time getting us ready to go on walks in this really cold weather. I want to go on walks so I can stay in shape for this pregnancy. Today while I was on a walk I got an idea. I found this item for sale online and decided I could make it myself. Part of the reason I don't like going on walks is because I feel Joshua is too cold. The next reason is my legs are too cold.

So I used an old Fleece blanket of ours (we have like 10 of them no joke) I thought this would be a good use for it. I folded it in half then sewed around the three edges , not the folded edge, then I cut it to size. I then sewed three large button holes, for the buckle to hold Joshua in, to go through. Then I bought two LONG zippers, sewed them on, ironed on some ball patches and there you have it.

Joshua had fun modeling for me.

I figure he should be warm enough in it in his pants, socks and shoes. On really cold days I'll put another blanket over his legs under the enclosure. Our stroller also has a plastic cover that comes down to cover his face so the wind blocks him. I am looking forward to trying this out tomorrow. I just need to get long underwear for me and I'll be set to go.

Felt board

Yesterday I wanted to make something for Joshua. His room echos very badly so I thought something above his bed might help a little bit. We went to Wal-mart and bought a bulletin board and some felt. Came home attached the felt to the bulletin board and cut out felt pieces. I have 4 stories in a binder with animal cut outs that go along with the stories. He has had a lot of fun with this board already, I am sure he will get a lot of use out of it. I am looking forward to showing him the stories, hopefully sometime today.

It's sewing time.

Today I was busy making baby blankets, cloth diaper wipes and one cloth prefold diaper. The cloth diaper wipes I made from an old towel, and left over pieces of flannel (from other baby blankets I had made). If you want directions on how to make any of these items let me know. I got the directions off the internet, they were very easy to make. I figure we might as well use cloth diaper wipes since eventually we are switching to cloth diapers. Since we are washing the diapers it won't take much effort to wash the wipes.

I made this baby blanket last week sometime.

Cloth diaper (burp rag) and the diaper wipes (4 of them).
