Tuesday trip to the pool.

Yesterday some women from our church called me up to let us know they were going to the pool. I enjoy taking Joshua to the pool, he has a blast while I get some sun. He loves the small water slide and went down it for the first time with out me at the bottom to catch him. I love the Rec-center pool but hate the cost. We usually try to go to the free wading pools unless someone we know is going to the Rec-center. Meeting someone there makes it feel like our money isn't being thrown away.

Joshua doesn't really eat well, but when we go to the pool he does great. Yesterday he ate a lot of 'cucumber chips', they are really just cucumber slices but I call them chips so he will eat them. He also ate other things but the cucumber chips were the hit of the day and the first time he has eaten them and enjoyed them.

After the pool we went home, he played then crashed on the kitchen floor from 3pm and didn't wake up from his nap until 5:15pm or so. I tried to wake him multiple times but he didn't budge, eventually I checked to see if he was still alive. He has never slept that solid, I should take him to the pool more often.

Later that day I noticed Joshua looked a little pink. The poor little guy got a sunburn on his back, arms, and part of his face. I felt HORRIBLE. I applied sunscreen on him at least 3 times, I noticed that we weren't using waterproof sunscreen earlier in the week so I grabbed the waterproof sunscreen on the way to the pool and used that there. Does anyone know of a good waterproof sunscreen? Where can I buy a shirt that is meant for the pool and blocks out the sun's rays? The sunburn is looking a little better today. I am sure his skin will be peeling later.

Enjoying the water.

I usually use Huggies spray sunscreen (I found it in the baby section of Walmart), but Ryan doesn't like the sting when it gets in his (many) cuts and scrapes.

Instead I usually use Coppertone Kids or WaterBabies STICK formula--not the kind you rub on with your hands or spray, but it's in a little tube (bigger than Chapstick)--he tolerates that pretty well as I apply it all over his body. I think it is designed mainly for the face, but it works all over :)
