Neighbor troubles

I really HATE confrontation. Our neighbors have been LOUD since the day we moved in and I am annoyed by it. I can right now as I type hear their music clear as day. I opened my front door, almost put my foot out the door to ask them to please be quiet, when I walked back in my house and closed the door. I am one who enjoys peace and quiet and listening to someone's music doesn't count as peace and quiet.

If anyone has any neat ideas or ways for me to ask them to please be quiet that would be great. It is annoying when my son is trying to sleep and I am trying to rest. I thought about making a bag of cookies or something and attaching a note to the bag asking them to please be quiet.

I really enjoy our house and the location of where we live but I really think that when July comes around and we have to sign our lease we won't and move to the University apartments. Hopefully our name will be next on the waiting list by then and we can move in. The move I am dreading but I like how think the walls were there and that if my neighbor were being too loud I could call the university police and they would take care of it.

You know, you can always call the regular police and tell them that you have a noise complaint. You can always tell them you don't want to give your name.

Cookies should work too though. James and I are having somewhat of the same problem. The people that live behind us have a 6 month old puppy that barks constantly. We can't be in our living room with the windows open, because she will bark at us if she hears us. We don't like our backyard anymore because she is ALWAYS barking!! Maybe I will make cookies for them and let you know how that works. :)

Call the police non-emergency hotline and tell them. They usually ask for your name and address just to make sure it is a legitimate call but they do not pass on your information to the others. They will give them a ticket for breach of peace!

hmm - you should give Joshua the bag of cookies, and let him knock on the door (you observing from some hidden spot of course) and ask with the sweetest voice if they could please be quiet because he can't get any naps :) - how could they resist that?
But really - you shouldn't have to live with that, just confront them - you can do it!
